About Me

Sith, Linux Lover, Programmer, Freedom Fighter, Husband, Father. Not necessarily in that order.

I am a California native who's been living and working in Norway for the last two and a half years as a Software Developer.

I grew up on Linux, quite literally, and can't remember the last time I willingly used another operating system. While there is definitely room for improvement, I enjoy the Open Source and FOSS communities and try to contribute as much as I can to both, whether it be through code or in helping new and seasoned users troubleshoot their problems via IRC.

My wife and I met in High School, dated then, and have now been married for almost 14 years. We have two wonderful daughters who give us many reasons to smile everyday and some fish that keep us entertained when we're not gaming, watching movies, or enjoying the Norwegian outdoors.

Some things I work on in my "spare" time

While most of the things I work on can be found on my Github profile, here are a few others that I think stand out a bit, either because I'm proud of the code or because they are ways of giving back to the Linux, FOSS, and/or Open Source communities:

  • CRUX Ports:

A repository of ports that I maintain. These packages are installable by CRUX users by saving the file darthlukan.httpup to /etc/ports/darthlukan.httpup and then executing # ports -u.

  • The Linux Distro Community:

The Linux Distro Community is a place for Linux users of any distribution and of all skill levels to come together and celebrate all things Linux. I assist the community with LDC-specific code as well as tech support via IRC and the forums.

  • *Nix Heads:

*Nix Heads is a newer community that is just getting off of the ground. It's meant to be a community of users committed to celebrating all things *Nix, such as UNIX, *BSD, Linux, etc. I am assisting with web development and moderation of the r/nixheads subreddit (private while we get things up and running.)
